Italian Fact 1 (Sept. 2–Sept. 8, 2007)
Italy is ethnically monolithic—everyone in Italy is Italian. This includes German-Italians, French-Italians, Slovene-Italians, Albanian-Italians, and Greek-Italians. I think this lack of diversity may be a little bit artificial.
Italian Fact 2 (Sept. 9–Sept. 15, 2007)
Italians can vote when they turn 18. However, they cannot vote for senators until age 25.
Italian Fact 3 (Sept. 16–Sept. 22, 2007)
The literacy rate in Italy is only 98.4%. This is in Europe’s bottom 15.
Italian Fact 4 (Sept. 23–Sept. 29, 2007)
Italy faces a problem of illegal immigration from the Balkans and northern Africa.
