Fijian Fact 1 (Jan. 31–Feb. 6, 2010)
Fiji became an independent nation in 1970, but since then has had four coups d’état: two in 1987, one in 2000, and another in 2006. The government still hasn’t quite sorted itself out after the last one, and so has two Prime Ministers: one legitmate (and confined to his home), and the other appointed (and acting).
Fijian Fact 2 (Feb. 7–Feb. 13, 2010)

Fijian Fact 3 (Feb. 14–Feb. 20, 2010)
According to the most recent data (which is from the 1990–1991 fiscal year—not recent at all), 25.5% of Fijians are below the poverty line.
Fijian Fact 4 (Feb. 21–Feb. 27, 2010)
Fiji is made up of 322 islands, but only a third of those actually have people living on them.
